This post is offensive, you have been warned. You may be one of those whom I criticized right here.
Seriously, if you see me sleeping, yawning or laughing at you when you are presenting, that means you are not doing it correctly or downright, WRONG.
Essay on a slide
Oi, your PowerPoint is not Microsoft Word la! Why on earth somebody would read an essay for your slide when you are talking RIGHT IN FRONT OF US. The essay on slides literally took away our attention from you, yes you are the speaker, not PowerPoint.
Plus, the projector is really bright. You don’t want us to lay our eyeballs on the projector screen for THAT long, don’t you.
Those who write little words on a slide, thank you very much!
Reading from the slides
Again, if I can read from the slides, then you can resign and let us read the slides. By reading from the slides it shows that you are UNPREPARED and do not deserve the money in my wallet. I won’t pay a single cent for your new business venture or to buy your product. If you don’t know what you are going to present, then don’t show it to me.
You won’t get away from rehearsal, don’t do impromptu crap, this is so unprofessional. Stop doing it, I love to hear bullshit more than people reading from slides.
If you want to burn our eyeballs, use white color background.
Stop using bright background, bright background will discourage us from looking at your slides (plus reading it). And yea your slides are not one of the lighting equipment!
Use dark colour or dark gradients which are lot more comfortable.
Don’t let the audience feel that you are not energetic. You MUST show how passionate, how serious, how dedicated, and even HOW OBSESSED you are with your topic, product! If the creator himself is not even interested on what he is doing, how could he possibly put in much effort to do it? Investors, consumers and even your teammates will feel insecure about the thing they are bout to fork out effort or money to do.
Cha pa lang animation
Animations should be used to emphasize a key point! I know you love fancy stuffs like cheesy animations but when it carries no value, don’t even think about putting it in your slides!
In most of the case, I already know you. No point you stand in front introducing each and everyone there! I knew back in my high school days I inspired everyone to do this because I failed to look for a good presentation opening sequence.
Stay tuned I will try to compile a list of some good presentation tips 😛
