7 years baby, 7 years – iTunes Malaysia

The first time I knew about iPod and iTunes is on the year 2005. That time I have no idea why such an expensive device can grab the limelight, at the price point of RM1500, iPod is expensive as hell. iTunes however, grabbed my attention. I never seen an online music store that looked so well, the overall experience is good, but it is not available in Malaysia.

Since I can’t buy anything from there, I just subscribed and downloaded episodes of Happy Tree Friends, and I shared the podcast with my friends. We are 11 that time, watching such a sick cartoon XD

But there are too many songs that I craved for! And I have no other way to get them one by one (I hate to waste money on album) than to get them from pirate sites, which are tedious to find and take an hour to download a song. RM3 for a song is not a big deal, after all.

So now in 27th June 2012, iTunes store has finally set themselves in Malaysia (and other countries) shore. I loved it, the first day I saw only 5 Armin van Buuren tracks are inside, now he put his Mirage album in, the 3rd day. They are slowly adding more and more delicious sounds to the store. Movies however, didn’t really catch my attention, USD 15-20 is still pretty expensive.

One of the most notable things you will noticed, is that it’s really targeted on Malaysian market. Lots of chinese oldies (Teresa Teng, yeaha), K-pop and even malay pops are inside. I bet within a few months, the sales of CD is going to drop rapidly and telco companies music stores are going to suffer from spiral drop.

Last but not least, thank you Apple for bringing in such a beautiful music store for us to buy songs from. Appreciate that!
